Hopefully you saw my Facebook posts announcing the winners of the 2017 Finger Lakes Dental Care academic scholarship. Of the three years we’ve offered this scholarship, this year had the most submissions. Just like last year, we had a very hard time choosing from so many qualified candidates.
This scholarship is our way of giving back to the community by helping to off-set the growing rise in higher education costs. We are so blessed to be a part of this wonderful community, and we feel that this small gesture is the least we can do to show our gratitude. The scholarship was open to active patients seeking some form of higher education. We asked that applicants to submit letters of recommendation and transcripts, along with a brief video describing why they would be a good candidate for the scholarship. All candidates did a fantastic job in describing their devotion to community service, passion for helping others, and academic success. In fact, as was the case last year, we had a very difficult time in selecting just three. In fact, it was so close, I decided to expand the scholarship again to FOUR candidates. I am pleased to announce the 2017 FLDC Academic Scholarship winners:
- Kevin Johnston
- Noah Ball
- Grace Van Gorder
- Madison Alessi
Please join us in congratulating these four great candidates. Below are their video contributions.
